Django Unchained 2012

Unpopular opinion – I don’t think this is a masterpiece. The film is amazing. It’s a very iconic and entertaining film throughout most of its run time. The acting is just breathtaking, Christopher Waltz gives one of the best performances of his career. And as expected from something by Tarantino, it’s still incredibly shot, amazing directed and just an overall great watch. But the buzz around this movie about it being a masterpiece is unwarranted in my opinion. The movie is tonally and thematically inconsistent. And due to its gargantuan runtime it tends to become quite tedious at times whereas at other points it’s an explosion of events that overwhelm you. Had the film been more evenly paced and slightly shorter, it would’ve left a much bigger impact. The ending of the third act is one of the best I’ve seen in all the movies I’ve watched though. This is still worth the watch, i just didn’t feel that it worth all the hype.
