Toy Story 4 2019

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for lowering my expectations for this movie. I went in thinking it’s gonna be bad, and my gosh this was a pleasant surprise. It’s a wholesome movie, and it lives up to the impossibly high standards left by the first three. The animation is jarringly photorealistic and Pixar doesn’t need to be praised more on their ability. What makes this film so great is the heart of these characters, every character in this film, new and old, are so well fleshed out. Bo Peep and Woody’s dynamic and relationship is explored masterfully and you realize that what they had is much deeper than what met the eye in the first movie. Forky who I thought was gonna be really annoying surprised me with one of the most unique and interesting characters in the movie. Of course, it goes without saying that the voice acting was incredible. The addition of Keanu and Key & Peele were genius. The ending was bittersweet but it made the incredible journey that this movie takes you through payoff. If I had one complaint, it would be that the second act feels unnecessary until the ending, when everything comes together and in the end the choice to spend so much time with these new characters, giving them substantial development makes sense. I loved this movie, even though a lot of people didn’t. This is Pixar back at it’s best!
