Casino (1995)

Martin Scorcese is one of the greatest directors ever. Every movie I watch of his solidifies this thought in my head. His approach to storytelling and filmmaking is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. That said, Casino is an incredibly entertaining watch, it has all the perfect elements for a gangster story. Robert de Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone are all brilliant in this film. There are very few drawbacks in this as a separate movie, as an individual piece of filmmaking, it’s quite great actually. I was entertained throughout the runtime. My only issue comes up when you begin to compare it to Scorcese other work. It’s very derivative of his other works. In a good way, but still, you can’t help but notice the similarities to Goodfellas, which in my opinion is a better film. Nevertheless, Casino is still a really entertaining watch and I would recommend it to people who like these gangster movies.
