My Top 10 TV Shows

3. Entourage

Where to Watch – Hotstar

Entourage was really a pioneer for HBO to try out their new formula. This formula was then used on Game of Thrones and many other of their popular shows. What Entourage does really well is a tell an interesting story, but also make you laugh. It encapsulated Hollywood in such an effective way. Nobody had portrayed Hollywood in this way until Entourage hit the scene. It’s also effective because of its unforgettable characters, such as Vincent Chase, Ari Gold, Johnny Drama, Turtle and E. The show’s testosterone fueled energy is also something which I’ve never seen on a television show before.

2. How I Met Your Mother

Where to Watch – Hotstar

In my opinion, this is the best sitcom of all time. Made to replace F.R.I.E.N.D.S, it did so very effectively. The writing on the show is what makes it so special. It takes the regular sitcom format and makes it unique. It has such a great premise and builds on that with so many high-concept episodes. It’s also a very iconic show, especially for its creation of things like The Bro Code. People quote Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney Stinson so often without even realizing it. Also all but 4 episodes in the entire nine season run were directed by the same person, so it is tonally very consistent. In simple words, this show is ‘Legen-wait-for-it-dary!’

1. BoJack Horseman

Where to Watch – Netflix (Original)

This has been my favourite show for almost two years now. It was up there for a long time, but after watching the Season 5 episode ‘Free Churro’, it solidified in my mind that this is my favourite show. It’s hard to find flaws with BoJack Horseman. The writing is so nuanced and unparalleled. There is not a single show out there that’s anything like BoJack. And the first season is not an indication of the tone or the quality of most of the show, but unfortunately most people are thrown off by this first season. Trust me, once you get past that slightly mediocre first season, you will embark on a journey that is nothing short of being a masterpiece. Every character has so much depth and is so detailed in their character development that you don’t feel alienated for a second. It deals with such heavy topics with so much maturity that it never feels insensitive. The satire is on another level and the commentary it makes is insane. This is my favourite show and I don’t think that’s going to change for a long, long time.
