Annie Hall beat Star Wars (the original one) to win Best Picture back in 1977. I can see why. It’s incredible. It’s hilarious. It’s one of the most incredible comedies I’ve seen and yet it’s also one of the most nuanced love stories I’ve seen. Woody Allen is hilarious and spectacular making these hilarious anecdotes and fourth wall breaks. Of course, he is ridiculously self-indulgent, but it’s all in good humour. But surprisingly, I don’t have much to say. Diane Keaton is amazing of course. And it’s incredibly directed and written but in the end of the day, it’s something that has to be experienced. And if you don’t find yourself laughing out loud, don’t worry, it’s not your fault. The references and the humor are very unique for the modern-day. Which is probably why I loved it.
