Man, this movie is FUN! I really liked Extraction. It’s not a movie with high artistic quality or filmmaking by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s still very entertaining. Chris Hemsworth is a phenomenal actor, and he shows why in this movie. But he’s not alone, in this cast of mainly Indians (which was great to see), Randeep Hooda and Rudraksh Jaiswal help make this movie what it is. Its made by a bunch of MCU veterans, directed by Sam Hargrave, a stunt coordinator on many MCU films, written by Joe Russo, and has a bunch of MCU staff. The action in this movie is iconic. Some scenes in this movie will go down in action history for their choreography and coordination. There’s this one fight between two characters that’s all one-take and it’s mindblowing how good it is. It has the potential to become a case-study for stunt choreographers and filmmakers in general. There isn’t much in terms of character development, but I don’t think a movie like this needs it. The Indian depictions are completely authentic, I didn’t find a single stereotype or anything like that. They got everything right down to elite school lingo. There’s one scene in a house that made me go from liking the movie to LOVING it. The entire movie is so much fun and I genuinely had a great time watching it. The ending is also beautiful. This has some great cinematography. I would recommend this to anyone with access to Netflix looking for a fun, good time.
