Bad Education (2020)

★★★★½

Bad Education is really good. Hugh Jackman plays this superintendent of a school district who’s loved by everyone, but there’s something sinister going on beneath the surface. Alison Janey (of The West Wing fame) is also spectacular in this film. The direction by Corey Finley is so nuanced and balanced. There’s a certain feeling that this movie gives you throughout that’s a weird blend of awe and suspense. It keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole time. This film is a very unique film in the way it portrays it’s character. This might be Hugh Jackman’s best performance to date, and that’s HIGH praise. The writing and direction made it one of the most riveting films I’ve ever watched. The character study of Hugh Jackman’s character from a sociological and psychological perspective while maintaining the intrigue of a huge conspiracy unraveling is what makes this film so special in my eyes. This is amongst the best I’ve seen in 2020.
