I’m surprised I hadn’t watched this movie yet considering how phenomenal it is. Shutter Island has got to be one of the best films I’ve ever watched. Martin Scorcese is a genius and this is another in his long list of masterpieces. This film does one thing best, it makes you go through exactly what Leo’s character is going through the entire film in a very systematic and suspenseful way. It’s an onion with so many layers of delusion and misdirects that by the time you get to the middle you’re left spellbound. Even after the film is over, you don’t find yourself connecting back to reality for a while. It’s an absolutely surreal experience. Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo are amazing in this film. Ben Kingsley also gives a great performance. The cinematography is perfect for the situation cause it makes you feel as trapped as the characters. The ending makes you think so much and it really reflects on all the symbolism and meaning behind every line and shot in the film!
