Plot Summary – More than 40 skits, animated shorts and interludes are included in this big-screen incarnation of the popular British television program “Monty Python’s Flying Circus.” The narrator (John Cleese) guides the audience through absurd segments about such diverse subjects as cannibal babies, killer cats and dead parrots. Although the skits were originally produced for television, the film contains alternate versions that were remade without a studio audience.

I needed something that was just fun and not emotionally heavy and I found that in oodles with this Monty Python movie. This was my introduction to Monty Python’s work and I understand why all ‘film buffs’ call them the pioneers of sketch comedy. To this day, the YouTube skits made are all imitations and reconfigurations of the whacky brand of humour popularized by Monty Python and its in vivid display in this film. It has a plethora of comedy sketches, some which are clever, ‘think-about-it-later’ kind of funny and some which are ‘laugh-out-loud-on-the-ground-clutching-your-stomach’ kind of funny and its this blend of witty and absolutely ridiculous that makes this such an entertaining watch. This has got to be one of the all-time best sketch comedies for me and I cannot wait to go and check out more of Monty Python’s work cause this ‘film’ has completely convinced me!
