Baby Driver accomplishes so much in its runtime that I took almost a day to fully appreciate everything in it. Almost everything about Edgar Wright’s latest film is perfect. The cinematography is simple breathtaking and the use of bright and poppy colors provides the perfect palette for the tone of the film. The sound design is absolutely spectacular as it immerses you into the high octane world of the story. The first twenty to thirty minutes are so breathtaking and fast-paced. Around the middle of the second half, the film meanders a bit but picks up pace pretty soon. The performances are so convincing. Ansel Elgort gives a really powerful performances while showing so little emotion or expression which is a difficult feat to accomplish. Jamie Foxx and John Hamm are also brilliant in their roles. The writing is hilarious and there are so many memorable lines and iconic moments. I felt the romance between Debbie and Baby was underdeveloped and that is my only problem with the film. It is a technical masterpiece and anyone studying film should check it out!
