I was aimlessly browsing through YouTube when I saw this Folding Ideas video that I had somehow missed so I gave it a click and for the next 75 mins (50 mins actually, 1.5x gang), I was completely enthralled. It has the best twist in the mid-point and I loved both halves of the video essay. It’s more than a standard video essay but certainly less than a film and yet I’m really glad it’s on Letterboxd. I never review YouTube videos but this is just one of those that I felt everyone needs to watch. It’s a perfect display of how video essays can be used to tell really important stories and the ideological connections made in the video are very very interesting. I am not of the same political leaning as Dan but I still agreed with everything he said and that’s the trait of a great piece of work. I recommend that everyone checks this video out!!
