Starting December off with a really nice, feel-good comedy. I loved PTA, it’s one of those classically funny films. This is the quintessential buddy movie, road-trip movie, and Thanksgiving movie. I was constantly laughing throughout the runtime and this is exactly the kind of film I needed to watch the day before an exam. So many tropes in modern-day films can be attributed to this film and you can see how comedies like Due Date are almost remakes of this film because of the precedent it set. Clocking in at 90 minutes, this is also a breeze to get through and leaves you feeling warm on the inside with its incredible ending. Steve Martin is amazing in this film and would have received an Oscar had this been a drama. The scene with the record for most f-bombs dropped in a minute of film is absolutely hysterical and Martin’s performance makes it so convincing. John Candy (Rest in peace) is also brilliant in this film, as he plays this absolutely ridiculous character who has a lot of depth. I was mainly surprised by the heart and three-dimensionality of this film. I thought it’ll be some ‘boomer humor’ film with lame, offensive jokes and nothing more but it turned out to be a touching film with some absolutely hilarious moments. I would recommend this to pretty much anyone looking for a quick, fun time!
