It might just be me but Sorry to Bother You really really impressed me. I’m going to have to re-watch it but it’s just one of those films where you know that this is gonna be on your favourites list for a long, long time. I had to just sit and think about this film for like 30 minutes because I couldn’t decided if I absolutely adore it or just despise it and I decided the former because I haven’t ever watched anything like this and I don’t think I ever will. As someone who doesn’t exactly completely subscribe to the politics of this film, I still found the message and allegory so beautifully portrayed. I LOVE that this film has a Parasite-style switch-up and just goes completely bonkers towards the third-act. LOVE the BoJack Horseman references. Lakeith Stanfield is so so good in this film, I already loved him from Atlanta and this movie convinced me that he is one of the young acting powerhouses of this generation. Tessa Thompson is also amazing as always. The fact that this film was written, directed and even the score was done by one guy, the incredibly talented, Boots Riley, is just so inspiring. It’s comforting and exciting to know that someone with an idea is all it takes to make a masterpiece. I know this film is divisive and I definitely understand why but this film was just spectacular for me and I would recommend it to people who are comfortable with absurdist humor and just crazy stuff happening.
