I’m late to the party but this is like a classic/masterpiece. My friend was like ‘I’m judging you so hard for watching this today” and I was like “Ok, your loss lmao” because WOW this film is so so good. This is the quintessential high school movie. Every high school related media that came after this will always be in its shadow. It’s somehow so realistic and unbelievable at this same time and I LOVE IT. Mark Waters chose to direct this film in such an interesting way but it pays off. Tina Fey’s screenplay for this film is nearly perfect. Every line and joke hits perfectly. There are so many lines and jokes from this brilliant screenplay that are so quotable. Lindsay Lohan is so convincing in her role and that adds so much to the appeal of the film. In my opinion, in the best films I’ve watched, the antagonists are stronger than the protagonists and Rachel McAdams’ Regina George is one of the best villains I’ve ever seen in a film. You know someone like this in your high school and the worst part is everything in this film is accurate. Every line she says and everything she does in this film is so iconic and has influenced this type of character in all high-school related content since. Even outside the universe of the film, everyone is trying to be Regina, which is Latin for ‘queen’. I can’t believe I’d never watched this movie till date cause this is so my type of film. Please leave your toxic masculinity at the door and have an amazing time cause this is one of the best films I’ve watched. Time and time again I’ve said that the most essential thing to look at while criticizing a film is whether it achieves its goal and this does that and so much more and will go down in history as one of the greatest films ever made.
