This is my first time watching this alone and it really put things into perspective for me. Don’t get me wrong, this is still one of my favourite films of all time and does nearly everything it needs to as a film but this is the kind of film that’s very reliant on the experience as well. Watching this first day, first show in theatres with the crowd screaming on top of their lungs at everything was a surreal experience that I’ll never forget but that really biased my view to this film because I’ll always associate that incredible experience with this film but taking a step back and watching this film alone made me realize that while this is a phenomenal masterpiece of a film, it’s not the MCU’s best and it has a lot to do. Again, I don’t think you can tell THIS story and make THIS film and conclude this universe in a better way but if you’re trying to objectively judge it as a film, it’s just not perfect. That being said, Endgame is an achievement in cinematic history. Culminating the story of 22 previous films and a decade of storytelling in such an overwhelmingly satisfying conclusion while paying fan service and throwing in easter eggs to the loyal fans while also giving enough for the casuals to have a great time is just a MARVEL to see (hehe). This has the plots for three whole movies and it manages to cohesively weave these three acts perfectly in a way that doesn’t seem jarring at all. Every single actor brings their best and Robert Downey Junior deserved a nomination in this year for sure. The Russo brothers had a mammoth task and they delivered in such a satisfying way, you can’t fault them at all for anything in this film. I’m almost done with my MCU rewatch but I’ll surely be rewatching these classics again because for our generation, this is what we’ll remember and tell our kids about fondly in the future. This is CINEMA.
