This show is the prime example of believing your own hype. The world is so unique and differently crafted that every little detail needs to be explained, which is fine because it is well explained for the first five episodes. The quality of writing and acting was high and even when it felt like things were slowing down, it felt like it had a purpose. Recency bias actually plays a negative role while reviewing this because I genuinely despised the finale. The MCU has made 3 well-written shows with 3 botched finales. This one is the most egregious and underwhelming of the bunch. I really liked the first two episodes where it was a character analysis of Loki, who has got to be one of the most morally complex and three-dimensional characters in the MCU. I even really liked how they further explored those themes in the next two episodes after he meets Sylvie. Even the penultimate episode proved to be fun and exciting introducing us to all these interesting Loki variants. The finale was the one that ruined things for me with an insane amount of exposition and it leads nowhere. The acting was excellent across the bat, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie were really convincing in their roles. Owen Wilson’s Mobius was the highlight of the show and his charm carried some scenes entirely. Overall, I found that Loki is a well-written show that had great production but was deterred by a cloudy sense of direction. It doesn’t know what it wants to be.
