The more I think about this film, the more I feel like it is a masterpice. Unrelated to the film, I had a really bizarre experience surrounding it but the film itself is so so good. I was completely absorbed by its vibe and I just adored everything about it. The cinematography was brilliant, almost every shot could be framed and kept in an art gallery. The use of color was so effective in telling the story and it added so many layers to the film. The direction by Lowery was also brilliant as it takes you through the fast-paced action to the slow-paced conversational scenes in a very cohesive way which never leaves you feeling like you’re out of pace. Credit must be given to the writing as well which questioned the morals and themes of the source material to give an alternate take on the situation. The film tackles topics like male ego, toxic masculinity, honour, tradition and nihilism in such unique ways that you’re left thinking about what you watched long after the film has concluded. Dev Patel and Alicia Vikander steal the show in their respective roles giving nuanced and yet energetic performances. There is a bit in the middle where the film drags but you realize how essential that part was for the theme of the film that it becomes exceedingly clear why that is there and credit has to be given for that. I loved this film and I highly recommend checking it out in theatres if you get the chance.
