I was really trying to find reasons not to give this a five but I just can’t. It was such an enjoyable experience. I love a good whodunnit murder mystery, and the way this played out was absolutely insane. I was not bored for a single second. It was non-stop plot progression, shot in a really unique and exciting way. For most of the film, the characters are using iPhone flashlights and other accessories to brighten up the otherwise dark hallways of this mansion, and this is very effective in building up tension and making the film so visually interesting. All the performances were top-notch. Rachel Sennott and Amandla Stenberg were really good in the film, but the standout for me was Myha’la Stenberg. Her character was the most interesting, and I definitely didn’t expect her to take the actions that she did in the film. The ending was genuinely surprising for me. I can very often find out the twist in a film before it comes, and that usually lessens the experience for me, but this truly caught me off-guard in its ending and reveal. One of the most creative and original endings to an absolutely unique and brilliant film. The writing was also really sharp and witty, and it didn’t feel like a forty-year-old man trying to come up with dialogue of early 20s women as it so often does. The dialogue was very contemporary and genuine. I never felt taken out of the film. Some conversations were like Twitter interactions but in a very realistic way cause I’ve literally seen arguments play out exactly like that in real life. Overall, I was a very big fan of this movie and would recommend it to pretty much anyone.
