Maybe it’s because I’m totally AI-pilled now, but I really enjoyed this film. This film is so gorgeous to look at, every shot is put together with so much thought and creativity. The way the AI characters talk and their subtle gestures were so unique and unlike anything I’ve seen. While “AI good” is how I’m seeing a lot of people describe this movie, I genuinely think that it just came out at the wrong time. If this movie had come out three years ago, people would be really appreciating what a zag it is. So many ideas and details were so refreshingly thoughtful in this movie. It is quite obvious that in the pair that made Rogue One, the visual master made this movie and the genius writer made Andor, because what I praised it for, is also what I think is the biggest flaw in this movie. After introducing so many novel idea, concepts and visuals – it lacks the details and specificity that Tony Gilroy brought to projects Rogue One and Andor. While each character in this film has a lot of personality, they lack the depth and exploration that a superior script would have offered. This is so close to being so much better that I feel with a better script and some tight editing, this could have been a modern science-fiction masterpiece like Arrival. I would still highly recommend people to check this out in theaters. Hans Zimmer’s score and the soundtrack alone warrant a visit.
