An Absolutely Remarkable Thing – Hank Green (BOOK REVIEW)

★★★★★ There was a time where books were my primary source of entertainment. This was a very large period of my life, in fact, ranging from age 3 to 12. I was an extremely vociferous reader. But I haven’t read that much fiction in recent years. Other than the occasional Agatha Christie novel, or whatever book I was reading to impress some friend, I have … Continue reading An Absolutely Remarkable Thing – Hank Green (BOOK REVIEW)

The American President (1995)

★★★★ Watched 30 Apr, 2020 As I continue to watch the development of Aaron Sorkin, I’m left in awe. Pulling off a love story is hard. Pulling off a comedy is hard. Pulling off a political drama is hard. And somehow this film does all three of those things extremely effectively. So effectively in fact that you don’t really notice that it’s doing any of these … Continue reading The American President (1995)

Mindhunter (2017) Season One Review

★★★★★ Mindhunter makes it to my Top-5 favourite shows ever, in one phenomenal season. That’s saying a lot because I have really deep feelings about all the shows in that Top 5 bracket, but Mindhunter is just THAT good. David Fincher directs 4 out of 10 episodes of this show and they are MAGNIFICENT! Asif Capadia, Lindholm and Douglas all do great jobs as well. … Continue reading Mindhunter (2017) Season One Review

Thor (2011) – Blast From the Past : Chapter 10

★★★½  Rewatched 28 Apr, 2020 Thor is a really fun movie! It has so much heart and wit that you find yourself getting lost in this world. Kenneth Branaugh (of Gilderoy Lockhart fame) directed this movie and his direction is frankly incredible. It’s a beautifully shot and composed film. You never get bored. It also breezes through, it’s short and very fast paced. Even the slower … Continue reading Thor (2011) – Blast From the Past : Chapter 10

Extraction (2020)

★★★★  Watched 27 Apr, 2020 Man, this movie is FUN! I really liked Extraction. It’s not a movie with high artistic quality or filmmaking by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s still very entertaining. Chris Hemsworth is a phenomenal actor, and he shows why in this movie. But he’s not alone, in this cast of mainly Indians (which was great to see), Randeep Hooda and … Continue reading Extraction (2020)

An Autopsy of Harry Potter 1 : Books 1 & 2 – Blast From the Past: Chapters 8 & 9

I decided to re-read the Harry Potter series for the 21st time. My first time in about 2 to 3 years, so I had lost a lot of memory of these books. Of course, if I was gonna re-read the books, I was obviously going to rewatch the movies. So here they are, my reviews and analysis of the first two Harry Potter books and their respective movies.

Elsa Should’ve Stayed Dead (A Dissection of Frozen II (2019)

SPOILER ALERT! DUH.

★

Watched 23 Apr, 2020

What did I just watch? I don’t like Frozen II one bit. I don’t like at all. I love Frozen, so I’m not just a hater. I really wanted this to be a good movie. I gave it a chance. But it’s disappointing. I don’t think I can review this movie without spoiling it. Before I rant about how bad this is, I want to point out a few positives. This is a very gorgeous movie. It looks really really good. The color palate is so interesting. But that’s about it. Let’s get to the negatives now, cause boy, are there a lot of those!

Iron Man 2 (2010) – Blast From The Past: Chapter 7

★★★★  Rewatched 22 Apr, 2020 The last time I watched Iron Man 2, I was pretentious, I thought I was some ‘film connoisseur’ and to be honest, I had no idea what I was talking about. And maybe I still don’t but I don’t think Iron Man deserves the 2.5 stars I gave it last time for sure. Iron Man 2 is a blast! It is … Continue reading Iron Man 2 (2010) – Blast From The Past: Chapter 7

The Incredible Hulk (2008) – Blast From The Past: Chapter 6

½  Rewatched 22 Apr, 2020 I remember this being bad, I just forgot how bad. I think this terrible movie had to happen for the beautiful Mark Ruffalo Hulk to exist. So I think that’s a positive! But other than that, I’d have to be reaching for positives. I think Thunderbolt Ross is a compelling character and I’m glad he comes back in the MCU, but … Continue reading The Incredible Hulk (2008) – Blast From The Past: Chapter 6

Iron Man (2008) : Blast From The Past Chapter 5

★★★★  Rewatched 21 Apr, 2020 I decided to rewatch the MCU. Firstly, because I love the MCU and it was a huge part of my childhood and still is a huge part of my personality. I remember watching Iron Man in theatres aged 5. Iron Man is great! It really set up this monstrosity of a franchise. When I hear ‘Back in Black’, I think of … Continue reading Iron Man (2008) : Blast From The Past Chapter 5

No Country For Old Men (2007)

★★★★½  Watched 20 Apr, 2020 If I had to use one word to describe this movie, it’s ‘epic’. The character of Javier Bardem’s Anton Chigurh is enough to carry this movie but it goes from normal to masterpiece because of actors like Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson and Tommy Lee Jones. It’s an extremely riveting and suspenseful movie. It isn’t as funny as the Coen Brother’s other … Continue reading No Country For Old Men (2007)

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)

★★★★★  Watched 19 Apr, 2020 I have never watched anything like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in my life. It is only one of 3 movies in 91 years to win the Big 5 Oscars (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female). I think it completely deserves all of those awards as it is one of the most memorable movies … Continue reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)

Malice (1993)

★★½  Watched 18 Apr, 2020 The second film in my endeavour to watch all of Aaron Sorkin’s (my favourite screenwriter and widely considered to be the GOAT of Screenwriting) filmography. I started with A Few Good Men a couple of weeks ago and that is a significantly better film than Malice. The best way to describe this movie is ‘predictable’, and not because of a lack … Continue reading Malice (1993)

McMillion$ (2020)

★★★★★  Watched 17 Apr, 2020 Let’s say you took the best parts of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Icarus and The Godfather and put them in one six-hour docu-series, that is what McMillion$ is. The way it tells its story is so exhilarating that you never feel like you’re watching something real. But it’s a documentary, EVERYTHING is real! The FBI are a main part of this doc and … Continue reading McMillion$ (2020)
