My Top 20 Coldplay Songs

10. Violet Hill

Album – Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends

This is probably the best commentary done by Coldplay. It could be read on one level as a message to a lover, but once you go deeper into the lyrics you realize that it’s actually a plea to the government. As the beautiful guitar riffs overlap with this starkly real voice of Chris Martin we get this deadly combination of a song.

9. Viva La Vida

Album – Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends

Probably the most popular Coldplay song, and for good reason too. It won Coldplay their long overdue Emmy. It was their financially most successful song too. And that’s because of the fact that these lyrics are probably one of the best religious/historical commentaries put to song. This song is extremely grandiose, in its instrumentals and vocal performance.

8. Everglow

Album – A Head Full of Dreams

This is such an emotionally fulfilling song. Somehow this is both the perfect song to listen to when you’re down in the dumps. It’s this beautiful blend of an amazingly composed piano-based instrumental, with a really great vocal performance.

I don’t really feel like I can say too much about the next songs. They just mean so much to me personally that I cannot critically analyse it any meaningful way. Just listen I guess. Thanks for reading this far!

7. Yellow

Album – Parachutes

6. Charlie Brown

Album – Mylo Xyloto
